    Selling Secret Egret 34′

We went way outside of our comfort zone financially when we bought SE 41′ there was a lot of risk having buying a boat before we sold our current one. But SE 41′ is a rare bird and we knew it was going to be a long time before a boat like it ever came back on the market. So it was a risk worth taking to get a boat that we know we will use until we retire and beyond. Also, American Tugs are very popular and we knew ours would get a lot of attention and sell well. Pictures above are from the Marine Survey of the boat…

    New Secret Egret

We have been content with our 34′ American tug we have owned since 2014 and love everything about it. But in July 2020 we saw a 41′ American Tug go on the market in Savannah. The year, amenities and price were within our range and would make life a lot more comfortable.  We told ourselves we were just going to go look at “Moon Shadows”. Once aboard we fell in love with it and knew it was time to make a change. This boat has a flybridge installed, they are pretty rare and not many were built with it. So we knew if we didn’t try to grab this one…

    Ft. George

Another frequent destination for us is Ft. George Inlet. Ft. George is a very popular place for boaters due to its sandbars and shallow waters It gets pretty wild on busy weekends, but in the evenings once all the boats leave it is very quite. Its a great place to meetup with other boater friends for a weekend.

    Bird Bling

So we were in St. Augustine and saw this bird that appeared to be struggling with line wrapped around its beak. After watching it for a few and wondering how were going to help it we realized there was something else going on. So it turns out this Anhinga wasn’t in danger at all. He must have found it and was carrying it around like jewelry or something. He seemed very proud of that colorful bracelet

    St. Augustine

We have made many trips to St. Augustine. We like to cruise the boat down on a weekend, leave it for a few weeks, head back to Jax for work and visit on the weekends. Its like have a lil’ temporary apartment in St. Augustine. Oh, ya know, just a few pirates hanging out. It’s St Augustine after all. We always see very interesting and cool boats here. We went with a Star Wars theme in 2016 and a Dinosaur Theme in 2018 and ended up winning first place in our category for both years! 2016 Light Parade For Star Wars we have a great team of friends who helped plan it out, decorate and even dressed up in their favorite characters. Crew participation is a big part for the judges. 2018 Light Parade This year we had our family down from Massachusetts and went all “Walk The Dinosaur”. River Trips

One of our favorite trips is heading south on the St Johns river. Usually to a place called Murphy Creek. We dock up to the island there and hike, explore the waterways and just pretty much disconnect.  Murphy Island is a special place for us and we “usually” have the whole island to ourselves when we get here. Big Gator (Heather’s Pic) Zombie Apocalypse headquarters or Cult hideout, we didn’t knock to find out Outback crab shack is another stop we used to make before Hurricanes Matthew and Irma finally took it out in a one two punch in 2016-2017. Refrigerator Venting

Our Tug was originally designed for cruising the waters of Alaska. It is used to being in cooler climates and as such there is a small but important design flaw in the way the refrigerator is setup. The vents installed to draw heat out of the back of the fridge just can’t keep up with  heat and humidity of Florida. We discovered this problem on our last weekend in St. Augustine. The plan was to cook some awesome short ribs in our crock-pot on Super Bowl Sunday during the cruise back to Jacksonville. We had only purchased the Short ribs a few days prior while we were staying in St.…
