Exchange Club Island Weekend
With Summer fading, we couldn’t resist another weekend at Exchange Club Island. It’s all about anchoring up, chillin’ on the beach, cooking good food and escaping. Even though we are still technically downtown. Flynn, our new dog, was pretty scared of the water and did not want to swim before this trip. Although he jumped in the river on the first boat ride, he just did not seem to be into it. We think he got encouraged watching Dusty run into the River at full speed a few times and decided it might be for him. Before we knew it he was swimming way out with The Dust. He kept…

New Cruising Buddy
A few weeks ago we adopted a dog from the Humane Society and named him Flynn. So far he has turned out to be a great dog. Him and Dusty are getting along pretty well but it’ll take time for them to really bond We already took him to Exchange Club Island for some Adventure.

Current Trips – Spring/Summer 2021
We only just now started up our Travel Blog again, we have not worked on it since 2014. We mostly write it just for ourselves to look back on over the years. I think I’ve caught up most trips so far. So going forward we are going to try to post updates whenever we take Secret Egret out like before. We recently took a trip to St. Augustine and a couple of river outings. St Augustine Styx Concert at St. Augustine Ampitheater Vilano Beach with the Dust “Boater Skip Day”, Shhhhh! Usually a week before Memorial Day, hundreds of boats congregate in Green Cove Springs for a day off work,…

Exchange Club Island
One of the easiest trips for us is anchoring out at Exchange Club Island. In our own backyard and a quick trip but, it still feels like we are away from everything. It is an Island downtown that takes us about 45 minutes to get to. We just Anchor up and spend a weekend there.

Boat Dogs
We truly enjoy having a dog aboard when we are cruising. Before she died, Riley really enjoyed being on the water as well and even though she was already pretty old when we got SE 34′ it was a great experience. We had some good easy days for Riley in her last years, Until Dusty came, fresh from HELL, with an attitude to match. Ok, he was bad, but not that bad….almost…. Dusty was a total asshole in the beginning. We believe it was because he was rejected during his stint at the pound. A family adopted him and then just dropped him back off a few weeks later claiming…

Painting
One of the first thing we wanted to do was get the hull painted as soon as possible. It was in bad shape and just made the boat look old. Dark hulls do not do well in the Sun. So we chose a lighter color that we had seen on another American Tug. The boat was painted by Huckins Yacht Corporation here in Jacksonville. Haul Out. Finally In the paint shed!
