Titusville —> Marineland —> St. Augustine 6/26-6/27/2014

It almost doesn’t seem like we were just leaving the Titusville Marina yesterday. We traveled from there to Marineland for over 10 hours. It’s like it was all a blur.
Yesterday, the 26th, we went through Mosquito Lagoon which is famous for its red fish so people come from all over to fish here. There is even a neat small business operation providing boat side bait service.

Most of the way on this trip was spent getting up to speed, and then having to slow down again. There were so many manatee zones and houses with docks, that we spent much of our time at idle speed. We felt like we would never make it to Marineland.
We pondered what the owners would do when it is time to re-roof
Here is the lighthouse at the New Smyrna Beach inlet.
It was entertaining to watch all those kids fly off that banana when they hit a big wake; looked like fun.
Whoops!
Double Whoops!

Big Whoops!
Finally, we ended up at Marineland Marina. Who knew that Marineland has a marina? It was another quiet marina that just happened to be across the street from Marineland. We were assigned a prime slip on the end of a dock for an easy side tie up.
After tying up to the dock, we cleaned up really fast to head out to dinner. We were so hungry! The closest restaurant was about two miles away so we got on our bikes and rode there.

(Side note: eye protection is recommended if you decide to go for a bike ride in the evening near marshes. I had a gnat hit my eyeball, and then it must have ended up in my eye socket because it didn’t emerge again until this morning.)

We got up this morning, the 27th, and walked over to Marineland. The heat was almost unbearable. We watched the dolphins in the tanks for a while and then headed over to where the sea turtles and stingrays are. To our surprise, that whole section was closed because a swarm of bees came in today. A bee keeper was called out and we weren’t able to see any more of the facility. We were only slightly disappointed, since we were eager to get back out on the water to finish this leg of the trip.

So once again we were headed north; this time to St. Augustine. This is where the boat will sit until the weekend of the 4th since have to go back to work Monday.
