Boat Dogs
We truly enjoy having a dog aboard when we are cruising. Before she died, Riley really enjoyed being on the water as well and even though she was already pretty old when we got SE 34′ it was a great experience.
We had some good easy days for Riley in her last years, Until Dusty came, fresh from HELL, with an attitude to match. Ok, he was bad, but not that bad….almost….
Dusty was a total asshole in the beginning.
We believe it was because he was rejected during his stint at the pound. A family adopted him and then just dropped him back off a few weeks later claiming he had an infection. The girls at the pound who worked with Dusty told us as much of his story as they could. He was just a crazy ass stray dog with his own ideas on what he wanted out of life.
Fast forward about 6 months, Dusty became the most gentle guy. We started calling him the caregiver because he started taking care of Riley and was totally attached to her.
Riley had problems with her eyes in her old age, they would get swollen and guncked up. Dusty would clean her eyes every morning, and walk with her in the backyard and nudge her away from the fence and back towards the house. My guy.
