Time Flies

It has been five months since the last post of our adventures on the Secret Egret. In that time we have learned a lot about the boat in a more structured way than the crash course we did while bringing her home from southwest Florida.
In our last post we had just arrived in St. Augustine. We stayed for two nights and went back to work Monday, but we returned for the 4th of July weekend.

The last leg of the trip from St. Augustine to Jacksonville was completed with Ashley’s mom and brother aboard. This was our first time with passengers and it was a very comfortable trip; the weather was perfect.

We had already arranged for a slip at Lamb’s Yacht Center before arriving. Backing into our new home went much more smoothly than our first attempt in Ft. Myers. We quickly gained a large amount of necessary experience on our cruise.  We had traveled over 350 nautical miles from St. James City across the Okeechobee and north to Jacksonville. For never operating a vessel of this type and size, I think we did a fantastic job! (toot, toot!)
The red line was our route home.

Since arriving home we have made some day trips with family and friends,

hosted friends at a Jaguar game,

They knew we were coming to see the Jaguars.

and hosted a ladies Sunday brunch.

We have also made a few short overnight anchoring cruises in the St. Johns River with our dog Riley. We were not sure how she would adapt to living on a boat but Riley was a natural. The first time we needed to take her to shore in the dinghy she hopped right on like she knew what we were doing; smart doggy.

Riley had a great time exploring the abandoned island.

We even took the Secret Egret out for the Annual Air Show

Now that it is close to Thanksgiving we decided it was time to update the blog before the end of the year. Also, we have gotten ourselves into being part of the Jacksonville Light Parade; our crew has some great ideas for the theme.Stay tuned for our follow up post in early December; I think the Secret Egret will be a hit. Hint: it probably involves a giant mustache.
