Stuart to Vero Beach – 6/23/2014

June 23rd, this entry is brief. We left Stuart, FL from the Sunset Bay Marina at 8:25 AM. Before leaving we decided to get some diesel fuel just to be on the safe side as fuel gauges are rarely accurate on a boat; 50.21 gallons in the port tank, and 50.11 gallons starboard. As we were leaving, a boat cruising by called in for an opening at the Roosevelt Bridge. It was “Mary Ann.” Three times now, we have cruised through structures along with her. The first time was when we waited an hour and forty minutes at the Fort Denaud Swing Bridge, the second time was at the Ortona Lock, and now at the Roosevelt Bridge. Thanks for calling that one in for us, “Mary Ann.”
After around seven hours of travel today, we are now sitting at an anchorage at the Wabasso Bridge. It has rained some, and there is thunder, but at least the wind has died down. This is where we will stay for the night.
An American Tug like ours named “Blue Moon” passing under the bridge next to our anchorage.

We cooked dogs again on the grill with a sauteed onion sauce we made and french fries fried in the bacon grease from breakfast, It went well with our Dark & Stormy cocktails. Tasty!

Secret Egret in the background
After dinner Ashley took the dinghy out for a spin, upon reaching the shore the local insects nominated him to be their honorary blood bank, so that was a quick trip.
